NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
Letter from the Executive Director
"Dear Neighbors,
This year it will be different for most of us given the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. But for our community's neediest neighbors, this Christmas will be just another reminder of how bleak and unkind life can be. Please share the comfort, joy, and the best Christmas gift, HOPE, today with those in need in Lenawee County."

Ministry Update:
Thank You
As we progress through the last month of this year, we would like to thank all of the supporters of Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry. This year has been exceptionally challenging with the COVID pandemic. However, the compassion that has been shown by all of our supporters has been astounding. Because of your support, we have been able to keep our shelves full and ensure that the individuals that seek help are supported.
"Christmas is the season of joy, of gift-giving, and of families united. Peace on earth will come when we live Christmas every day."
This year we saw our donors living Christmas every day. You were all gift-givers, and we all were a family united through this whole year. We thank each one of you for that. As we head into the New Year, we will continue to need your help. If you are interested in lending a hand at Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry, please contact us.

Making Memories
This December, our focus is on making memories with the women and children that will help them to remember their experience at the ministry, have meaningful times with the community, and create traditions that they may repeat in the years to come in their own homes. The staff has planned activities each day for the 12 days of Christmas: crafts, cookie decorating, a 2020 memory tree, Christmas caroling, bible lessons, games, and more.
We are deeply appreciative of the gifts that have come from churches, neighbors, families, businesses, sororities, and individuals for the children as well as the women. Their hearts will be so happy on Christmas morning because of you. Thank you, and God bless.

VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT
Meet Cindy Nicolai. Cindy has been volunteering at Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry for three years now. She had stopped into the pantry one day to inquire about Plant a Row of Hope, a program which is run through our pantry to collect donations of home-grown vegetables.
While discussing what the current needs were, the idea of volunteering was mentioned, and Cindy decided that day that she would be back to volunteer and has been a neighbor of hope since.
When asked what she likes about volunteering for Fishes and Loaves she says," I truly enjoy giving back to the community and helping those that are in need. I've come to cherish the relationships I have made, not only with my fellow volunteers but with the clients that utilize the pantry as well."
In the midst of this pandemic, we are excited to celebrate these 15 wonderful years of service and we want to invite you to join us in this celebration as we seek to raise $25,000.
If you have never given to Neighbors of Hope, would you consider donating $15 in commemoration of this occasion?
If you have given before, would you consider an additional gift of $15? Or make a commitment to pledge $15 a month? Or increase your current pledge by 15%?
Or even make a one-time gift of $150 or $1500?
We would not be where we are today without the generosity and support of people like you. Please consider a gift today. Your fifteen dollars will provide one day's food, shelter, care and support for a homeless child.
Visit our website to make an online donation now or you can send a check to:
PO Box 918, Adrian, MI 49221. Thank you, and God bless.
Ministry Update:
Another graduate!
Since the ministry opened in August of 2019, we have received 114 requests from women in our community who are in need of shelter. We've had six women and their families who have successfully completed our program.
At this present time our ministry is assisting nine women and seven children. Another graduate, Miss M, completed all of our goals after only three and a half months in our Fresh Start Program!
She leaves us after gaining employment, purchasing a car, and securing an apartment and rebuilding relations with her children.
We ask for your prayers for protection during this pandemic, with 90% of the women working and with children in daycare as well as being taught remotely within the ministry. Thank you, and God bless.

I pray this correspondence finds you and yours safe and well during these pandemic days of COVID-19. I am sure you are experiencing many of the same challenges as we are - economic and employment uncertainty, health and safety measures, adjustments to new ways of being community and many others.

Ministry Update:
Now welcoming
new guests
Our Men's ministry can happily say it is now accepting men for both its Fresh Start and Life Change programs again since the State of Michigan lock down!
We have some great news for a few of our men! Three men moved on from our ministry this past month. One was able to find employment with the government and secure housing, the second was able to move into transitional housing and the third found another housing program that allowed for better opportunities for his employment.
We are currently able to bring in volunteers to host growing hope services, and still continue to maintain social distancing guidelines. If you are interested in volunteering, or know someone who may, we are interested in volunteers that would like to add to our growing hope services and volunteers to cook home cook meals.
Neighbors of Hope collaborates with individuals and organizations in our community to bring hope to the people of Lenawee County. You too can become a neighbor of hope by sharing the love and compassion of Christ with our hurting neighbors.

Celebrating our one
year anniversary!
The Women and Children's Ministry currently has nine women and children. We experienced the great joy of a decision by one of our guests to accept Christ and had a beautiful baptism service in July!
At the time, we do have volunteer opportunities which include meal donors, as well as an "open when" letter campaign. Community members are invited to write a lot of encouragement, with a specific topic, for the women care who might need to open when they are feeling discouraged, disappointed, unloved, hopeless etc. letters are given to the guest at the ministry whenever there is a need.
Thanks for all the support that has been given to us as we celebrated our first anniversary on August 13!

A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
After several months of intense challenges brought on by the coronavirus, we are seeing the small signs of new life emerging in our community. Retail businesses, restaurants and other non-essential entities are re-opening, including our Woven Hope women's boutique and Blessings & More Donation Center. Yes, there is still plenty of navigation yet to do, but hope is visible on the horizon.
As encouraging as it is to see some semblance of return to "normalcy", there are still those in our community struggling amidst the challenges of these times. Some are losing their jobs. Others are losing their homes. Still others, including children, are experiencing food insecurities for the first time. All need hope.
It has always been people like you-kind, generous and caring-that have helped Neighbors of Hope provide healing and hope to these hurting neighbors in need, no matter the crises of the day. We all have to help all we can. The government cannot support this Gospel work. But we're very glad that you do.
During these summer months, donations to support our work tend to decline rapidly. But with your help this summer we will provide hundreds of meals and nights of shelter. Many will be relieved and find the strength they need. But our prayers go beyond that. We ask God to use each of these kind acts to show the needy that Jesus loves them. His love and yours, are enough to make it through these challenging days but also the struggles of life.
Thank you for sharing in this heart-lifting work. You are truly a blessing to us and all who come here with rarely more than a hope and a prayer. Please remember us this summer. Help as much as you can. Our hurting neighbors need you.
Thank you and God bless,
Pastor Steven Palmer

Now welcoming new guests
Following COVID-19 guidelines, which include procedures such as tracking, screening and logging information from guests and visitors, the Women and Children's Center is now able to accept new guests!
And with those procedures in place we can now welcome one new guest that will be arriving this week. Two other family units in the ministry are nearing the completion of the Fresh Start Program and are in the final phase of searching for their next home/apartment.
Volunteerism is needed with meal donations once weekly, bi-weekly or once a month. Donations of any other type are being pre-arranged through the Director or Assistant Director. Please call the Ministry at 517-301-4939 to discuss or schedule a donation.
Breanna and her son Trevvyn, who have successfully completed our FRESH START program. These two amazing guests of ours moved into their own home, mom has been secure in her employment, son is attending daycare, they both saved and sacrificed and each give God the glory for all of this.
They have grown their faith, strengthened their family unit, touched the hearts of all who have shared in the NOH WCMC community with them and found peace in their new path.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Friend,
Certainly, the coronavirus pandemic has impacted all of our lives, and Neighbors of Hope is no exception. Since the Governor's Executive Order back in March, we have had to close our social enterprises temporarily, which has impacted us not only financially, but programmatically as well. We have six of our staff members on furlough. Our Men's Ministry, Women & Children's Ministry and Fishes & Loaves Feeding Ministry are still operational as "essential, life-sustaining" programs providing basic needs to the vulnerable in our community.
And, for the first time in 14 years, we have had to cancel our annual spring banquet. This banquet has historically been crucial to raising much needed funds that help us continue to provide safe shelter, food, and hope through our addiction recovery and transitional housing programs as well as food distribution to neighbors in need. Those funds raised are instrumental in helping us provide these Christ-centered programs through the summer months when donations are low.
We know this pandemic is going to have long-lasting effects on the working poor in our communities. We know we will see homelessness increase, addictions rise, food insecurity escalate, and hopelessness grow as the economic impacts of the Coronavirus take their toll.
This is why we are offering an alternative to our annual banquet; an exclusive virtual event being held on our Facebook page from May 9th to May 29th. We are calling this event - 20/20/20 GIVE HOPE; whereby we are trying to raise $20,000, in 20 days, $20 at a time. If you are on Facebook please check in on this event. f you are not following us on Facebook, please consider following us today. Between now and May 29th, members of our staff, guests and our board president will be sharing video stories on our Facebook page about the challenges we are facing in the midst of this COVID culture.
And we NEED YOU to HELP us continue to provide these vital services to the hurting in our community. Please, make a donation of $20 today. Please help us maintain these vital services in Lenawee County. You can be a Neighbor of Hope today!
Thank you and God bless,

"As we all continue to navigate our way through the days of this crisis, I ask that you be mindful of our hungry, homeless, and hurting neighbors. Pray for them. Pray for our staff too as we pray for you. And please, consider giving a donation today to help us meet the costs incurred from the escalating need resulting from these unprecedented times.
May you be blessed knowing God uses you to help change lives and bring our homeless, hungry, and hurting neighbors hope."

aring Smiles & Hope
Women and Children's Ministry
The Women and Children's Ministry is focused on seeing the good and serving God during this time of COVID-19. There are five women and six children in the community who are looking for the positive ripple effect and choosing to share HOPE by reaching out to others and showing their support.
We are sharing hope, smiles, and being a good neighbor through outreach in messages on sidewalks, windows, and decorated bags for the homebound seniors in our community.
Two of our moms continue to leave the ministry and serve as essential workers, while five out of six kids go to their stable daycare providers each day. Thank you to all who show up at our door, leaving necessities and sharing smiles behind masks. We are so grateful. Rise and keep looking up!

Fishes & Loaves continues
to help families in need
Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry
Current events have changed so much for so many us these past few weeks. The impact of COVID-19 has been felt by all of us, however Fishes and Loaves continues to help the individuals in Lenawee County that are hungry. This has meant an increased need of individuals and families that are feeling insecure about their current situation, are uncertain of where their next meal will come from and are looking for help.
We have had to make a few changes to our hours in order to keep those we serve safe, while continuing to offer them hope. Currently we have been serving families on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00pm - 3:00 pm and hope to be back to regular hours soon. We are still accepting donations which can be dropped during these hours as well.

Letter from the Executive Director
"We tell everyone coming here no one is a lost cause. Everyone can be free. They can be forgiven and live a good life. Even if they've tried over and over, and failed every time, they can make it. If they trust God's promises, He will help them. Jesus says, "I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." ~ John 8:12, NIV. That's His Easter Promise to all of us."

Baby Steps to Growth
As of March, the Women and Children's Ministry Center has six women with ten children who have successfully gone through the 6-month program with the ministry, with some extensions of stay being given to offer stronger stability and one moving out with baby into an apartment. Follow-up mentoring goes with her as does our support and love.
Our infants are growing and thriving, getting teeth, eating first foods and rolling over while the school kids celebrate the warmth that spring brings and more time outdoors to play and exercise.

Fishes and Loaves
Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry recently went through a major change as we moved from 410 E Maumee St to 423 W Maumee St. This move was made so that we can take advantage of having more space for food storage as well as allowing us to improve the shopping experience for families. We are excited to continue helping those suffering from hunger-related issues in Lenawee County.
This move also granted us with the ability to centralize Fishes & Loaves and Blessings and More Donation Center into one location. This means our supporters can now bring their food donations and textile/clothing donations to the same building.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
Letter from the Executive Director
"Neighbors of Hope is now into its fifteenth year of serving Jesus among the hungry, homeless and addicted. Over twelve-hundred men have come through our doors since our opening in 2006. Over 55,000 men, women and children have received hunger relief from our feeding ministry-Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry-since we opened in May 2010. And in just five months, our Women & Children's Ministry has served fifteen women and a dozen children."

Fishes and Loaves will be temporarily closed starting February 13th, while we move from our current location at 410 E Maumee to our new location at 423 W Maumee St in Adrian.
As of February 20th we will begin operating in the same location as Blessings and More Donation Center. This new location gives us a larger space to meet the needs of those experiencing hunger insecurities in Lenawee County.
This will also allow for one convenient location for those dropping off donations for our ministry.
Work continues on The Good Neighbors Center as we begin renovations on the upper level. This section of the The Good Neighbor Centers will offer outpatient community services such as addiction counseling, life skills and financial coaching, and veterans' assistance.
The Good Neighbor Center will also offer transitional housing for up to 20 men that are in recovery and on the path toward self sufficiency, in the lower level. We are hoping to see these renovations begin soon!

"For fourteen years now, Neighbors of Hope has been providing shelter and basic needs for men without a home and life-change for those wrestling with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
And since August, we are now providing these services and hope for homeless women and children. For all of these neighbors in need, Neighbors of Hope is a place to meet Christ and find new life.

Blessings & More Retail Store Transitions to Donation Center
Our thrift store is undergoing a transformation in order to serve our customers better. We will continue to accept donations at our Maumee Street location as we always have. These donations will provide needed clothing and accessories for men, women, and children from Neighbors of Hope's programs as well as other local non-profit organizations. We will also continue baling and recycling goods donated to help fund the ministries of Neighbors of Hope. Read more here.
New Location Brings New Opportunities
Last Christmas season, we were given the news that our Broad Street location was being sold, which left our Men's Ministry residents without a home. Neighborhood Church in Adrian has been gracious enough to house our program residents during this time of transition, but this temporary solution has had to go on longer than we anticipated. Our residents are in the basement of a church and this presents many challenges including a reduction in the number of men we can serve. Read more here.

March 2019
Dear Friends:
It may not have gone exactly as we had planned, but praise the Lord our Women and Children's Ministry Center will open in Tecumseh very soon. As you may recall, there were more curves in the road than anticipated, but God has opened the doors, and we are extremely excited to be moving forward. There has been much activity taking place with facility project, as many volunteers and contractors work daily to prepare the building for housing homeless women and children. Crews have engaged in demolition and construction, extraction and installation, patching and prepping for painting, and so much more. What a blessing to see our neighbors and supporters uniting to bring this project to fruition. We are so close to finally helping the most vulnerable in community, and there is still much that needs to be done, so if you are interested in volunteering and helping us bring this vision to fruition, please contact us.
Thank you for being a faithful neighbor to those in need through our history. Your faith, generosity, and prayer are a joy to us.
Sincerely,
Pastor Steven Palmer
Executive Director

What a blessing to see our neighbors and supporters uniting to bring this project to fruition. We are so close to finally helping the most vulnerable in community, and there is still much that needs to be done, so if you are interested in volunteering and helping us bring this vision to fruition, please contact us.
Thank you for being a faithful neighbor to those in need through our history. Your faith, generosity, and prayer are a joy to us.
Sincerely,
Pastor Steven Palmer

Dear Friends of Neighbors of Hope,
Two years ago, Neighbors of Hope set three major goals: launch a second social enterprise, create a women & children’s ministry, and expand our men’s ministry into a new, larger facility.
With your help, in 2017 we launched a recycling operation. In 2018, we obtained a 22-unit transitional housing facility for women and children, which will open this spring.
While we achieved the other two goals that we set, we’ve been actively pursuing a new and larger location for our men’s ministry. For thirteen years, we’ve been renting the current house on Broad Street. We’ve explored purchasing and expanding it. We’ve looked at building a brand-new building on some property that was donated to us. And we’ve made an offer to purchase an existing 25,000 square foot building, which would hold 52 rooms for men, as well as a kitchen, common areas, and offices for other outreach ministries. But negotiations have proceeded more slowly than we would like, and we’ve not yet been able to secure that building.
But now the Lord is accelerating our timeline. The existing house on Broad Street has been sold by the owner, and our men will have nowhere to live by the end of January. We must immediately make plans to secure both temporary and permanent housing for our men’s ministry.
We need your help, now. Here’s how:
Sincerely,
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Friends of Neighbors of Hope,
Two years ago, Neighbors of Hope set three major goals: launch a second social enterprise, create a women & children’s ministry, and expand our men’s ministry into a new, larger facility.
With your help, in 2017 we launched a recycling operation. In 2018, we obtained a 22-unit transitional housing facility for women and children, which will open this spring.

But now the Lord is accelerating our timeline. The existing house on Broad Street has been sold by the owner, and our men will have nowhere to live by the end of January. We must immediately make plans to secure both temporary and permanent housing for our men’s ministry.
We need your help, now. Here’s how:
- PRAY. We are sure that the Lord is moving up our timeline because he wants to expand our men’s ministry next year. When God pushes us out of our comfort zone, it’s usually because he is moving us toward a better place. It can be scary, but His plans are bigger and better than ours. Pray that he shows us where to go, leads us through this transition, and provides all we need for the journey.
- SUPPORT. Spread the word that we are in need of a temporary space to house our men until we can move into this permanent facility. Let us know if you are aware of or have ideas for a temporary space while we complete the acquisition and renovation of the new building. And please continue to support NoH as you have in past. We may be transitioning our location, but we are not foregoing our Christ-centered ministry that transforms the lives of the men we serve Jesus among.
- GIVE. Times of transition utilize resources and this time of ours will be no different. Please help Neighbors of Hope by continuing to give of your time, talents and treasure. As we journey through this season of transition we will need help with volunteers to help us make the move. And given the sense of urgency upon us, we need your help financially to help us secure a permanent location as soon as possible. The sooner we can transition into a permanent facility the less impact it will have on our men seeking hope and transformation. Expedience here bears greater fruit.
Sincerely,
Pastor Steven Palmer

Neighbor Success Story
How Zak Mosher Found his Identity Through Service to Others
Zak Mosher, Fishes and Loaves Pantry Director, traveled a long and winding road before he finally arrived at Neighbors of Hope. He spent most of his life struggling with drug addiction and transitioning in and out of prison until he realized that he needed to make a change.
He came to Neighbors of Hope in December 2015 after getting out of prison. Zak joined the Men's Ministry and successfully completed the LifeChange program. He continued his commitment to sobriety by completing a year in the Graduate Program Services. During that time, he started working at the Fishes and Loaves pantry, and Zak also served as the night time house manager at the Neighbors of Hope housing facility.

Why do you like being a part of Neighbors
of Hope?
As a new board member, I would say the reason I decided to join the NOH Board is because of the local community aspect. I love that all the money we raise stays in Lenawee County to help individuals in our community. I also love that our organization is self-funded and does not receive any money from the government.

A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
Summer is here and it's time for picnics and cookouts. There will be chicken and burgers on the grill with watermelon, baked beans, and corn. But, not for everyone.
Across the country one in five children go hungry. In some Lenawee County neighborhoods it's more than that - especially in the summer when school is out and school time meals are no longer available. Right now we have hungry families and people coming to our Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry looking for food and we need your help.
We see more and more families with children needing help these days. You've helped make this place a relief from trouble and a time to draw close to Jesus for strength and guidance. I pray you can help do so this summer. Because of our partnership with the food bank, we are able to provide five meals for every one dollar donated. With your donation, you will be caring for those with little, if any, food at home. Some have to choose between paying rent and buying food. They are down to their last few dollars. People hit rock bottom and need help all year long. Please do what you can to offer help during the summer when giving to the Food Pantry is always lower.
Thank you! You are a blessing to all of us at Neighbors of Hope.
In Service to Christ,

Why do you like being a part of Neighbors of Hope?
Neighbors of Hope is different from the other social ministries I've been personally engaged with in that we rely on the power of the Gospel to transform lives. All the elements of other social ministries are present such as providing food, clothing, shelter, training, support, encouragement and hope. The distinction is that Neighbors of Hope recognizes only through the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through each of our lives can we successfully put aside addictions and destructive habits and begin to rebuild our lives in people-loving and God-honoring ways.
What is your day job?
I recently retired from a career as a wildlife biologist. This started out with the Wildlife Division of the Michigan DNR but eventually took me across the country working for several conservation organizations. I also own and operate a private consulting firm for small business and non-profits.
Tell us a little bit about your family:
My wife, Katrina, and I enjoyed 34 years of marriage before she passed away last year. We were blessed with two daughters, both married and now living in the area, and I have two grandchildren that bring me lots of joy.
What is your favorite ministry with Neighbors of Hope?
My favorite ministry? That's hard to answer! My wife and I were both involved with Fishes and Loaves. I've remained engaged with this ministry and I visit Blessings and More regularly. I am really excited about our soon-to-open Women and Children's shelter, and I just enjoy occasionally stopping by the Men's Ministry on weekday mornings to participate in the morning Bible study and visit with the men. One area I hope to help expand as a board member is our social enterprises. These provide hands-on experience, training and even licensing for the men - and soon for the women - who participate. Profits from these "mini-businesses" are invested back into all our ministries, and even have the potential to spin off new businesses and employment opportunities in Lenawee County.

May 2018
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
I pray you will find this month's ministries update encouraging as you see the many ways in which God is transforming the lives of our neighbors through the various ministries of Neighbors of Hope.
Now, in our thirteenth year of serving Jesus among the homeless, hungry, and hurting, this ministry has provided healing and hope to more than 1000 men. Our feeding ministry, Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, has been providing hunger relief to neighbors in our community experiencing food insecurities for eight years now. Since its inception in 2010, this ministry has served over 42,000 people and distributed over a half of a million pounds of food. Likewise, our radio ministry, Word Made Flesh, also in its eighth year of service, continues to share the gospel of the poor in this community. Blessings & More Resale Store celebrates its fifth year as our first social enterprise, enabling us to both provide educational, vocational, and employment opportunities to those enrolled in our ministry programs as well as assist us in our ongoing effort to expand this ministry, including our new Christ-centered ministry to women and children suffering homelessness opening later this year.
I do hope you can see the mighty ways in which God is spreading His love, hope and healing through this ministry and I pray you will continue your support of this ministry. Please enjoy this issue of our e-newsletter and may you consider giving a donation today to this vital ministry that is rebuilding lives in our community.
Thank you and God bless.

Ministry Spotlight:
Neighbors of Hope Welcomes New Production Supervisor, Randy Lafave
Randy Lafave is our new Production Supervisor at Blessings and More Resale Store. He oversees all incoming and outgoing donations. He helps by unloading and sorting donations at the door, coordinating donation pick-ups, and supervising the team in the donation center.
In the donation center, the team sorts, cleans, and tests all items. Even if an item does not meet their high standards to be sold on the sales floor, it can be recycled. Almost everything donated can be either sold or recycled. Randy oversees this recycling enterprise of our ministry.
Outside of work, he loves spending time with his children and his fiancé. "They are blessings and remind me how truly blessed I am." He is also very musical and enjoys playing guitar and creating instrumentals.
Randy is very involved in his home church, Neighborhood Church and participates in many bible studies, camp retreats, and loves being a part of the greater spiritual community. "I am forever grateful for what Jesus is doing in my life. And take it from me, he will never put anything on your doorstep that isn't good."
Randy enjoys working for Neighbors of Hope because the ministry has been a large part of his journey with Christ. "I came to the ministry as an unemployed, criminally convicted, heroin addict. I joined the LifeChange program and began a year-long journey that although hard, has been the best thing that has ever happened to me."
His favorite verse is Hebrews 13:17: "Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you."

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
As I reflect upon the renewing of life that comes with Springtime, I am reminded of the Christian compassion I see being poured out by those in our community. Whether it has been in the form of a unified voice favoring us launching a women & children's ministry in the City of Tecumseh, or those volunteering their time and energy to better the quality of life in those whom we serve Jesus among, these neighbors of ours have risen faithfully to the escalating need for healing, renewal and transformation in the lives of broken men, women and families in our community.
Truly this time of renewal is a time of excitement for us as we behold God's grace in action. It is also a time which I pray you will renew your commitment in supporting this ministry. This ministry of inspiration and transformation wouldn't be possible without the generosity of individuals such as you. We need your help if we are to continue to faithfully minister to the broken and wounded in our community with the life-transforming love of Christ. Will you please help us continue advancing what God is doing at Neighbors of Hope by giving a donation today? Your gift does make a difference. Thank you and God bless.

Ministry Spotlight:
Neighbors of Hope Welcomes New Food Services Director Joshua Edwards
Joshua Edwards is the new Food Services Director for Neighbors of Hope. He helps educate the residents in our Men's Ministry programs in basic culinary and sanitary skills. This will not only help them become independent and successful in the future but also gives them skills that would be applicable for future employment in food services. He is currently in charge of all meal preparations and manages the house pantry at our Men's Ministry location.
Josh is a massive kid at heart and outside of work you can find him going to the movies, reading comic books, or playing video games. He grew up in the church but drifted away as he entered his teens. "It's funny, even though my back was to God, today I look back and can see Him in everything that has happened," he explains.
Josh loves working for Neighbors of Hope because the ministry has given him hope that he can share with others. "My heart wraps around this dearly, feeding those that are hungry," he says. His greatest passion in life is to make sure everyone is fed. "Hearing today in our society of bounty that there are men, women, and kids going hungry every night just shatters my heart."
Josh's favorite verse is Hebrews 10:24: "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds".

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
March 2018
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
It's happening! I am thrilled to tell you Neighbors of Hope will open a new location to house women and children in Tecumseh. A large portion of the homeless in Lenawee County are women and children. Many are unable to receive help from other programs. But through this new facility, we will reach this vulnerable population with food, shelter and the life-transforming power of Jesus Christ. This has been a long process. At times, it felt like it might not happen. But with a lot of patience, persistence and prayer, the journey is paying off. In a few short months, we will start moving women and children in. What a blessing it will be! While this is happening, all the services for the Men's Ministry will continue as usual.
The Lord is truly working at Neighbors of Hope and we see it as more men turn their lives over to Him. They overcome addictions, gain new job skills, and ultimately grow closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ. I want to thank you for helping the lost, hungry and hurting in our community. You have touched so many lives through your support of Neighbors of Hope. Whether you provide a meal, clothing or shelter, you make a difference. Thank you for caring.
In Service to Christ,

Thompson is a lifelong Lenawee County resident and has 24 years of local community banking experience. He was a member of the Neighbors of Hope board for six years, including one year as president. "Up until now, the career track that I have been on, while fulfilling, has been focused inward. Now I can do what I love while making a difference in our community," says Dean.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
February 2018
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
The season of Lent is upon us. As believers, we are preparing ourselves to accompany Jesus toward the cross and the resurrection. This is a season of great hope. And, in a country such as ours, one would think that hope abounds. After all, America is a wonderfully rich country. We have enough food and opportunity to go around, but so many miss out. In fact, according to Feeding America, close to one in five parents don't have enough food on hand to feed their children.
I've never seen so many people coming to Neighbors of Hope and Fishes & Loaves for help...people we've never seen before. And they keep coming, day after day. People come to us who haven't eaten for days. Some have been out of work for years. They are afraid of what is happening to them and don't know what to do, but with your help, the hungry are fed and the homeless have a place to stay. On top of this, many draw close to Jesus and grow strong in their faith. A promise from God goes a long way toward lifting a heavy heart. Lives change here as we turn to God for help. In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." No matter how hard the journey, God promises to be with us all the way. He gets us through.
Thank you for caring for those who are going through hard times. Please consider giving a gift that helps to meet desperate needs for food and shelter at Neighbors of Hope and also at our Fishes & Loaves food pantry. It's neighbors like you who help our neighbors in need to trust Jesus. Please join us this Easter season to care for everyone who turns to Neighbors of Hope for help.
Again, thank you and God bless you for your continued support.

LifeChange Member Testimony:
Andy DuShane
I grew up well provided for in a loving home with a good family. I had little to complain about other than feelings of inadequacy and issues with self esteem. Around the age of 14, I found a crowd that accepted me. But, being accepted meant getting involved with drugs.
After graduating high school I went to college in a larger city. There I found a new group that shared my interest and my use began to escalate both in frequency and the use of heavier substances. My grades began to slip and I would skip class on a regular basis. After two semesters, I felt college wasn't for me based on my performance and returned home unable to admit I had any sort of drug problem.
I moved in with a girl and bounced between jobs trying to control my use on my own with little success. At this point, I was a functioning addict. I could hold my composure at work and around family, but drugs always came first in my life.
It came to a head in January of 2014 when I got into a domestic dispute and was arrested for the first time. My family refused to get me out of jail unless I sought help for my addiction. With no other option, I agreed to spending three months in an inpatient facility, but my heart wasn't really in it. After six months I had a job, was in transitional housing, and was getting through life sober. Something was missing. I returned to my old relationship and inevitably relapsed. I was kicked out of transitional housing and moved back to my old life in Tecumseh. With no job, I began stealing, borrowing, and begging from everyone I knew just to support my habit. Things went from bad to worse, and I became reclusive. My minimal contact with the outside world was strictly to acquire drugs or money. I always returned to isolation until my supply ran out.
This vicious cycle came to an abrupt halt when I was kicked out of my living arrangement. Knowing I could not continue on this path but powerless to change my situation on my own, I sought the help offered by Neighbors of Hope's Life Change program.
It was here that I learned to live by the teachings of Jesus: the importance of community, honoring commitments, loving others, loving myself, sharing God's blessings, sacrificing my desires, relying on God's provision and protection, and God's love, grace, and mercy.
It has given me the confidence I need be a positive contributor to society. It has taught me that I do not need to fear or hide from the obstacles in my life. And it has given me a new path to follow - the one God has for me!

If you could describe Neighbors of Hope in one word, what would it be, and why?
Transformation - Hope is transformative. And the goal of our compassion and responsiveness to people in need is transformation. NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
We are excited and thankful that the Tecumseh City Council voted Monday evening to unanimously approve a transitional/emergency women and children's housing facility in the city's Office/Service (OS-1) zoning district. To everyone who has supported this effort in some capacity, we say thank you!
With the zoning issue now behind us we still have some steps before us. Next, we will be submitting an application with the Planning Commission for a site plan/special land use approval. As of now, it looks like we are slated to appear at the March 13th Planning Commission meeting. Upon acceptance by Planning Commission, our plan will be recommended to Council for final approval. We look forward to the opportunity to work collaboratively with the City of Tecumseh and its residents.
Following this next step with the City of Tecumseh, we will work on closing the real estate transaction with ProMedica. Once this step is completed, we will begin renovations on the property, which will go through the inspection process. We will begin to hire necessary staff and purchase the furnishings needed. Once we receive the occupancy permit, we will move in and hold a grand opening, praising God for His help and provision every step of the way. As some of these steps will take some time, we anticipate that the grand opening will happen summer of 2018.
Given the much work still to be done, I ask for your continued support. Please pray for this effort to help the most vulnerable in our community. Please consider sponsorship, volunteering, or making a donation to help offset the costs of the remainder of this project.
Again, thank you and God bless you for your continued support.

What do you like about being a part of Neighbors of Hope?
This ministry is changing lives. The people we serve are in need of hope, love, and encouragement and we strive to bring that to them in many different ways. It's a privilege to be part of the organization during a period of expansion, especially as we seek to fill a crucial need in the community through the new transitional housing program for women and children.
What is your day job?
I am the Chief Creative Officer and co-owner of Hoyden Creative Group, a marketing agency located in Adrian.
Tell us a little bit about your family:
We live on a farm in Addison, where my husband, our three children, and our gaggle of animals enjoy being outside, riding our horse, playing basketball, and sitting by the pond.
What is your favorite Neighbors of Hope ministry?
I'm especially fond of the Broad Street homeless shelter and Fishes and Loaves. Our entire family has served in these ministries and it's provided a great opportunity and reminder of what's really important in life.

A plaque with the name of your choice will be displayed on that room for one year. We have had nearly half of the 25 rooms sponsored already by churches and individuals!

Dear Neighbors,
It doesn't seem possible, but in just a short time Christmas will be upon us. Our churches will be filled with the sights, sounds and feelings of Christmas cheer--Christmas music and decorations, warmth, joy and generosity. Christmas is a time for family, church and community. Mostly, it is a time to celebrate God's love for us as we remember the birth of the Christ-child.
Yet, for some of our county's neighbors, Christmas will be just another reminder of how bleak and unkind life can be. They identify with Mary and Joseph as they sought shelter from the elements only to be turned away and forgotten. They are intimately familiar with grief, failure, rejection, loneliness, and emptiness. They are the forgotten ones of our community--the outcasts without a home, on the addicted trapped in the chains of alcohol or drugs.
But there is a place for them; a place of safety and hope. For more than twelve years now, Neighbors of Hope has been providing shelter and basic needs for men without a home and life-change for those wrestling with addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. And soon, we will be providing similar hope to women and children in our community experiencing the hardships of homelessness. For all of these neighbors in need, Neighbors of Hope is a place to meet Christ and find new life.
That is why I am writing you. Our neighbors need your help and encouragement. Here's how you can help:

Adrian Steel Donates 92,197 Pounds of Food to Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry
Last week, Fishes & Loaves was blessed with another substantial donation from Adrian Steel. The company visited the pantry last week and delivered four semi-trucks full of food.
Approximately 300 Adrian Steel employees divided into teams to compete and see which group could collect and donate the most. This year's winner collected more than 24,000 pounds. "These people here are just incredible," said pantry volunteer, Brenda Knapp. "Every year they've been so giving."
From all of us at Neighbors of Hope, we want thank our donators for the willingness to give and help our community during this holiday season.

When I was a kid, I had trouble distinguishing between my needs and my wants. I felt that I needed my day just as much as I needed another pair of shoes. I wanted my mom as much as I wanted to stay home from school. I just assumed that if I wanted it, I needed it (whatever "it" was at the time). This feeling stayed with me into my teenage years. Only now, I needed marijuana, my friends' approval, and the bike that the kid down the road had. I always knew drugs were bad, but I "needed" them anyway. I felt alone and I couldn't stand it anymore. My parents worked long days which left the weight of the world on me and my older brother. So, it was up to us to clean house, make meals, and take care of each other. The problem with this was that I preferred my friends' company, and, in return, I was raised by "the streets"()what we called our stomping grounds. My life quickly spun out of control due to my now habitual drug use and persistent legal trouble. Not to mention, I became a high school drop-out at the age of sixteen.
Even after I had gotten married, had children, and paid bills, I was struggling to become a responsible adult. The truth is that I never really cared. I had my first child, a daughter, when I was nineteen. I then had to lay my first son to rest at the age of twenty-one. I only continued to use drugs. Truth be told, the only change I made in my life was my drug of choice. I was now a heroin user. Even years later after my wife and I had our second son, I still didn't get it. I even went to jail the day after his birth and lost yet another job. That son is now four, my daughter is ten, and my first son has been with God for seven years.
Even with the wreckage of my past, today I stand a free man. Free from the guilt for things I have done and things done to me. Free from the grips of drugs and alcohol. And, free from the pain I caused and endured. Thanks to Neighbors of Hope I have a new, intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I am now looking to a promising future of who I am. I am more than a poet. I am more than a musician. I am more than a recovering addict. I, Randy Lafave, am a proud and beloved child of God. And to Him I give praise.

A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors of Hope,
Eighteen months ago we began developing a program to serve homeless women and children in Lenawee County who are not eligible to receive other services. Six months ago we launched the Good Neighbor Campaign to raise funds that will help us finalize the initial steps to get this program started.
Through your generosity, God has blessed our efforts and the Good Neighbor Campaign.
Through you, God has blessed us with great success so that together we can bless these families.
A Speed Bump
Unfortunately, we ran into a delay on Monday night. The Tecumseh City Council denied a similar use plan request for the former Herrick Manor. We have been pursuing the property as the site for our transitional housing center and were optimistic that a similar use would be approved so we could move to the next stage with the planning commission.
I am convinced that this is just a speed bump on the road to opening the doors of our new transitional housing center for women and children. I am hopeful we will make some procedural adjustments and have another opportunity to bring this before the Tecumseh City Council.
This close to the finish line we need your support more than ever. Here's how you can help us complete this effort:

Through your generosity, God has blessed our efforts and the Good Neighbor Campaign.
- A 25-unit facility in Tecumseh was offered to serve as transitional housing for women and children.
- 19 rooms in the facility have been sponsored by churches, businesses, organizations, and individuals in Lenawee County.
- We have prepared remodeling and operational plans, have contractors standing by, are interviewing staff, and are otherwise prepared to open the facility sometime this winter.
Through you, God has blessed us with great success so that together we can bless these families.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
October 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
For the past 18 months, Neighbors of Hope has been exploring properties for the transitional housing center that will provide for an unserved population in Lenawee County. A large population of homeless women and children in Lenawee County are not eligible to receive assistance from other programs like Share the Warmth or Catherine Cobb.
Earlier this month, we moved one-step closer to securing a facility to help women and children rebuild their lives. The Tecumseh Planning Commission approved "transitional housing" as a similar use for the former Herrick Manor property in Tecumseh. There are still a few more steps to take with the City of Tecumseh before this concretized, but we are one-step closer to seeing God make this a reality.
Should this acquisition come to fruition, this facility would allow us to share the compassion of Christ with up to 25 families offering them a comprehensive suite of Christ-centered programs and services including education, jobs, case management, mentoring and volunteerism.
This is why we launched our "Good Neighbor 2017" campaign - to raise funds to help acquire and renovate a facility such as this. Our campaign was launched this past May. In just five short months, thanks to the generosity of many individuals, churches, and businesses from Tecumseh and beyond, we have crossed the 85% mark toward our goal. Our hope is to be at 100% of the goal by Thanksgiving. This will ensure us the renovation funds needed should our efforts with the City of Tecumseh find blessing.
Please consider making a donation today to this campaign. Your gift will not only help us reach our goal by Thanksgiving, but also help make women and children very grateful this winter season.

September 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
The season of fall is now officially upon us, which means the temperatures begin to drop. Within just a few short weeks, the nights will become quite cool and eventually cold. Some may look forward to this time as refreshing. Others may view it as a preparation period for the upcoming winter and holidays. However, for homeless women and children, it is time leavened with anxiety and dread. For Neighbors of Hope, it is season of urgency.
For more than eighteen months now, we have been diligently engaged in seeking a facility where homeless women and children in Lenawee County can have a safe, warm and dignified place to find restoration and healing. With the cold nights just around the corner, our "Good Neighbor" campaign is closing in on securing a transitional housing center for these vulnerable neighbors in our community.
Will you please consider supporting our "Good Neighbor" campaign? Your partnership in this effort will help provide real hope for women and children experiencing homelessness this winter.

Ministry Spotlight: Blessings and More
The purpose of the Blessings and More Resale Store is to provide support for the Neighbors of Hope organization while giving our mission some vocational help. Though there are some paid staff members, the majority of our workers are volunteers, men from the mission, community service workers, W.E.P., and A.A.R.P. Since I began working at Blessings and More-almost two years ago-there have been many changes. We were able create an organizational system for receiving donations and getting them out on the floor, as well as rearrange the store to allow more merchandise to be displayed. Our customers' response to these changes have been wonderful-saying that it makes better sense, is less confusing, is much more organized, and has a very clean atmosphere.
Aside from the changes on the floor, we have been implementing a recycling program. We now accept recycled books, stuffed animals, newspaper, magazines, cardboard, clothes, linens, shoes, belts, and purses. By taking this initiative, we are helping support our organization, as well as keeping our landfills clean. In order to pass on all that we have been blessed with, we are looking to create many more changes in the near future. Please spread the word to your friends and family, and together we can grow our community to be the best it's ever been!

Thank you and God bless,

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
August 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
When the Bible speaks of the "poor", it is referring to those who have or are suffering injustice. When these references are made in the Bible, we find that God is calling upon us to join Him in a battle - the battle against injustice. The challenge this calling raises for us is whether or not we will respond.
It seems clear, that in God's heart under the general heading of the "Poor," there are two groups of people that are a priority to Him - the Orphan and Widow (women & children). These two groups of society are the weakest and most vulnerable. In our community, we can identify these are homeless women & children. They are powerless. They are often viewed as a liability and not a productive member of the community.
The scriptures are very straightforward about how God sees them and their situation and leaves little to question. In fact, our actions towards these two groups significantly define how God views the reality of our faith. Please join Neighbors of Hope in our "Good Neighbor Campaign" to respond to the call God has placed upon us to bring hope to these the Bible identifies as "poor"- homeless women & children.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
July 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
We have a real need for funds this month. Our donations are dropping off rapidly through these hot summer months. Even on a nice sunny day people lose their homes and find themselves on the street with nowhere to go. Summers are especially hard on children who miss out on school meals and stay home with little or no food in the house. If we were a business we might close for the summer. But there is no other place to care for people like Neighbors of Hope.
With your help this summer we will provide hundreds of meals and nights of shelter. Many will be relieved and find the strength they need. But our prayers go beyond that. We ask God to use each of these kind acts to show the needy that Jesus loves them. His love and yours, are enough to make it through the struggles of life.
Please help as much as you can. You are a blessing to us and all who come here with rarely more than a hope and a prayer and the clothes on their back. Please remember us this summer. Our residents need you. Thank you for sharing in this heart-lifting work.

Wellness Director Update
I have been with the ministry since January of 2015. I first became connected with Neighbors of Hope while completing my Masters in Social Work at the University of Michigan. During my internship I was drawn to the mission behind Neighbors of Hope. Now, two years later I am an integrated team member within the ministry. As Wellness Director for the Men's Ministry I work daily with the men in both our Fresh Start and Life Change programs. Many of our men struggle with addiction, feeling hopelessness or defeat. We work together in one on one and group sessions to identify the root cause of these struggles to help our neighbors rebuild their lives. Within our Life Change program residents and I work together on a plan of action, interpersonal skills, career planning and more in depth individual counseling. My role in the Men's Fresh Start program is to also assist and help our resident's develop a plan of action while in our program. The plan of action looks at areas of work, housing, schooling and legal problems. As a team we develop goals that fit this new phase in the resident's life.
I have had the opportunity to assist our Director Steven Palmer with additional programs embedded in our ministry, Third Day Farm and development of our Women's and Children Center. Third Day Farm has allowed for support to provide food to neighbors within our community who face food insecurities. This project has allowed for the residents within our programs and neighbors from around our community to be involved including myself. I have helped identify best practices so Neighbors of Hope can be part of the solution to combat dietary health concerns.
For many years Neighbors of Hope has been able to provide shelter for men through blessings offered by neighbors within our own community and throughout. Currently there is limited resources for a shelter for women and children. Over the last year our campaign has been to bring awareness of this struggle and the need to develop a women's and children shelter. Our hope going forward is to provide safe shelter for with expansion of our Women and Children's Center.
I represent Neighbors of Hope by building stronger community relationships by providing pathways to hope through Christ.
Thank you for being part of Neighbors of Hope!

What do you like about being a part of Neighbors of Hope?
I appreciate a gospel centered ministry that is wholistic in approach. From sheltering the homeless, to feeding the hungry, clothing the needy, showing the addicted the way to freedom, and proclaiming the message of hope across the air waves - it's all motivated by Jesus and designed to be reflective of Him. And everything is done with dignity and respect for those culture often considers the least of these.
What is your day job?

Tell us a little bit about your family:
I married way above myself. My wife Amanda and I are blessed with two young boys, Eli and Oliver.

Dear Neighbors,
For a dozen years, Neighbors of Hope has been a vital force in our community, providing hope and help to the homeless and addicted single men, nourishing the underfed, and clothing those in need. Men's Ministry Update
The Men's Ministry of Neighbors of Hope continues to assist and grow the men in our programs. The men in our Fresh Start program are presented with the gospel of Jesus Christ and are either diligently working or looking for work or also volunteering at our social enterprise: Blessings and More. The Life Change addiction program members continue to seek the face of God for their salvation and liberation. As they learn to trust God and move beyond addiction, they do so with hearts to God and hands to work. The graduates in our Graduates Program Services continue to serve and be served at Neighbors of Hope, reflecting Christ-likeness to those in the ministry and community as they live out the gospel in their vocations and daily lives.
The Men's Ministry on Broad Street in Adrian continues to offer hope and a hand up to the men who are struggling, as we trust our God is a God of love and restoration; whose words are a healing balm to the broken in spirit. Please pray to our Father to liberate, save, and restore these men at Neighbors of Hope; for their good and God's glory.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWS
May 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Dear Neighbors,
They are calling. Calling for help; for safety; for hope. Homeless women with children are calling us every week, sometimes daily, in desperate need of somewhere safe to lie down their heads, fill their bellies, and give their lives hope.
"I am currently homeless and in need of a place stay with my child", they say. In Lenawee County, these vulnerable neighbors of ours have limited resources for safe shelter, and it breaks our hearts to have to turn them away with no answers.
Women and children, whether it is due to the lack of a job, underemployment, relationship change, tragedy, or addiction need our help. Neighbors of Hope has launched its Good Neighbor Campaign 2017 to address this need. With your help, we can answer their calls and bring them hope.
For more information on the Good Neighbor Campaign, please visit out website.
Neighbors Rejoice
We had a great celebration of what the Lord has done through the ministry of Neighbors of Hope at our annual banquet on May 20, 2017. With more than 200 supporters in attendance, it was an amazing evening.
Special guest speakers Mayor Jim Berryman and State Representative Bronna Kahle brought us words of encouragement. Zac Mosher and Justin Rohrback gave testimonies on what the Lord is doing in their lives through the ministry of Neighbors of Hope. Musical performances from Brittani McComb, Alicia Fowler, and Pastor Alan Maki blessed us all.
We launched our 2017 Good Neighbor Campaign at the banquet, explaining the desperate need in our community for a viable and available shelter for women in children. The campaign is seeking to raise $150,000 to secure a building to launch the program. We were deeply touched by the compassionate generosity present as more than $21,000 was raised toward the campaign. You can give to the campaign by donating online or sending a check to P.O. Box 918, Adrian, MI 49221.
Many Thanks Extended
We want to thank the following for helping to ensure that the funds raised at our banquet went directly to help those in need and not to offset the cost of the event.

NEIGHBORS OF HOPE NEWSLETTER
April 2017
A Note from the Executive Director
Pastor Steven Palmer
Neighbors need each other to make a community a happy and healthy place to live and work. That is why we are grateful for you, a neighbor in partnership with us in the good things God is doing.
Now in our twelfth year of serving Jesus among our neighbors most in need, our ministry has grown to feed, shelter and give new hope to these neighbors. Through our Men's Ministry, Fishes & Loaves Food Pantry, Third Day Farm, our Radio Ministry as well as our Blessings & More Resale Store and newly opened second social enterprise - Blessings & More Baling Operation, we see lives transformed.
Today there is a new crisis in our community - homeless women and children. Since our rebrand launch last year, we have diligently been seeking property with which we can house and help these vulnerable neighbors of ours. As we traverse this call to respond, I thank God for your friendship and for joining us on this journey. Together we will see the lives of women and children move from despair to hope.
So thank you for your partnership. Thank you for loving our neighbors in need and helping to give them hope.
God bless

The following testimony was written by Justin Rohrback, who will be graduating from the LifeChange program this month.
"I am 23 years old and I've spent most of my life in Lenawee County, originally from Blissfield. I didn't have the best up-bringing. My dad wasn't in the picture much and wasn't the best dad. He should have been around more. His absence caused a lot of pain in my life. I've had to wrestle with issues of abandonment, rejection, not feeling loved and low self-esteem. I look back on my life and I see how these issues impacted me; how I was unable to cope with them and how I sought other, unhealthier, ways to deal with them. I started getting into trouble very young, including drug and alcohol use. This behavior landed me in juvenile detention and eventually jail. It also led to me becoming a full-blown addict, including the use of crack cocaine and heroin. Drugs and alcohol were my weak way of attempting to mask my pain. And they have prevented me from being the child of God the Lord has created me to be. I have a three-year old daughter. Since coming to NOH I have remained clean, sober, and am now actively engaged in the reunification process with her. She's my world! I'm also back in school seeking my diploma. After I graduate the LifeChange Program, I plan to stick around here and enroll in GPS (Graduate Program Services). Then I will focus on securing employment and alternative housing so that I can get my daughter in my life fulltime. I thank God for NOH! This place has helped me realize what my true identity is - a beloved son of the one true King, God. I am forever grateful."
